De TANE is een van de vroegste ontwerpen van James Wharram gebaseerd op zijn twee Atlantische overtochten en bouw-ervaringen tussen 1954 en 1965. Bedoeld als eenheidsklasse van snelle, makkelijk te bouwen zeilcatamarans voor clubwedstrijden bleek de TANE grote aantrekkings-kracht te hebben op bouwers die lange zeereizen wilden maken. Er zijn veel TANE's gebouwd, maar het is nooit een wedstrijdklasse geworden. Om het comfort te vergroten werd de TANE in 1973 vervangen door de TANENUI. De "Kookaburra" is door één van de eerste CTC-leden duurzaam gebouwd en door de vorige eigenaar verbreed naar 5m en van hogere kajuiten voorzien voor meer comfort. Dankzij deze restauratie verkeert de catamaran nog steeds in degelijke staat. De laatste 3 jaar is ze echter niet meer gebruikt en heeft nu wel veel cosmetische zorg nodig. Daarna kan de "Kookaburra" haar nieuwe eigenaar nog veel mooie tochten over het Wad en langs de Europese kusten bieden.

The TANE is one of James Wharram's earliest designs, based on his two Atlantic crossings and building experiences between 1954 and 1965. Intended as a class of fast, easy-to-build sailing catamarans for club races, the TANE proved to have great appeal to builders who wanted to make long sea voyages. Many TANE's have been built, but it has never become a racing class. To increase comfort, the TANE was replaced in 1973 by Wharram's TANENUI.
The "Kookaburra" was long lastingly built by one of the first CTC members and widened by the previous owner to 5m and upgraded with higher cabins for more comfort. Thanks to this renovation, this Tane is still in good structural condition. As she wasn't used in the past 3 years she now needs a lot of TLC. After that the "Kookaburra" can offer its new owner many more beautiful trips on the Wadden sea and along the European coasts.
